Our Story
Lake Market opened its doors on 20th Street NE with a simple belief: a good grocery store should feel like walking into someone's well-kept kitchen. Not a warehouse. Not a chain. A place where the flour smells right, the apples crunch, and the person behind the counter knows your name.
We started as a bakery — still are, at our core — and built a full grocery around it. Every category we carry is something we'd put on our own shelf. That's the standard.
What We Carry
Sourdough, croissants, focaccia, and seasonal loaves — baked in-house every morning. If it's on the shelf, it came out of the oven tonight or today.
Seasonal fruits, crisp vegetables, and herbs that actually last. We order small and often so nothing sits around waiting to be used.
Milk, cheese, eggs, and prepared foods from local producers and trusted regional brands. The kind of stuff you want for the long haul.
Olive oil, pasta, canned goods, spices, and baking supplies — the foundation of every meal, curated so you don't have to think about it.
Coffee, tea, juice, wine, and everything in between. We keep the everyday drinks in stock and a few interesting finds you won't see everywhere.
Cleaning supplies, paper goods, and rotating seasonal picks — things you need without the big-box overwhelm.
From the Oven
Everything we bake starts the night before — a starter fed, a dough mixed, a schedule set. By 6 a.m. the ovens are running and the display cases are filling. That sourdough you see? It's been fermenting for 24 hours. The croissants? Laminated by hand, every single one.
We don't do frozen. We don't do factory. If it comes from our kitchen, it comes out fresh — and we'd be proud to serve it to our own family.
